HHIP Are 2009 All Chapter Champions!
Hatboro-Horsham Indoor Percussion Theater:
2009 T.I.A. All-Chapter
Champions!!!

In what was supposed to be a "building year" pulling the competitive indoor program out of hiatus, HHIP shocked the indoor percussion community and brought home the first T.I.A. All-Chapter Championship in Hatboro-Horsham High School's history!
The long season started back in January and ended with HHIP winning two championships. First was the Chapter 3 (Philadelphia Region) championship on April 25th at Upper Darby High School in Drexel Hill Pa. Then it was off to a 4-day championship event at the Wildwood Convention Center in Wildwood, NJ. The T.I.A. All-Chapter Championships in Wildwood bring together over 230 indoor units annually, from all over the eastern U.S. The result a fun and exciting weekend of Percussion, Color Guard, Twirling and Dance.
The preliminary round of competition resulted in very narrow victory for the Hatters, who won by a mere tenth of a point. The finals performance, however, was inspired, and the Hatters opened their lead by seven tenths of a point. The HHIP finished with an impressive score of 96.2 over silver medalist St. Mary’s High School and bronze medalist Ridley High School. The HHIP also earned a promotion to the next competitive class for the 2010 indoor percussion season.
The program was led by first year director Tony Perez, who said "This was truly a great way to start a new program. It has been difficult trying to overcome many of the problems that had to the program's recent decline, but with the hard work of the staff, students and support from our great school and support organization, anything is possible! We proved that here this weekend. We are so proud to be able to bring home the first All-Chapter Championship for this school, this community and our alumni."
HHIP 2009 production: "7- The Mystic Number"
Musical selections for the program included:
"The Mystic Number"- an original composition by Tony Perez and TJ Kash (utilized excerpts from Prince’s “All Seven” and “Live and let die” from James Bond-007)
"The Dreaming Tree"- from Before These Crowded Streets by the Dave Matthews Band
"Bella’s Lullaby" by Carter Burwell from the Original Motion Picture soundtrack: Twilight
The program ended with a combination of musical ideas depicting the "7-deadly sins" including the raw intensity of "The World has Gone Insane" from the original Broadway soundtrack of Jekyll and Hyde, and ended with the fast paced and heart pounding sounds of “7 Lives” from the album Seven Lives, Many Faces by Enigma.
